A Colorful Educational and Cultural Journey

My name is Liu, and I embarked on a special study tour adventure when I arrived in Singapore with my parents this summer. From August 11th to 16th, 2024, I participated in a five-day exploration tour with Guangdong Seiwajyuku. International FLS Corp meticulously planned every part of our trip, making the entire experience both educational and enjoyable. Below are some highlights from my time in Singapore.

Day 1: The Warmth of Singapore Welcomes Us

"The evening breeze is gentle, and everything is clear."

Our journey began with excitement as we landed at Singapore Changi Airport. After checking into the Orchard Hotel, located on the lively Orchard Road, we headed to the historic Chijmes for a welcome dinner. There, we indulged in iconic Singaporean dishes like chilli crab and satay and shared the anticipation of the days ahead. I was particularly impressed by the chilli crab—it was delicious beyond my expectations!

Ms Cha Pei Pei, the co-founder of International FLS Corp, inspired us by hinting at the exciting challenges to come. Her words stirred up excitement within me, despite the fatigue from our early morning flight. The atmosphere during the toast at the banquet was unforgettable, filled with unity and warmth—our Singaporean adventure had officially begun!

Day 2: Immersed in Academia at the National University of Singapore

"Academic Hall NUS National University"

The next morning, we explored the prestigious National University of Singapore (NUS), ranked 8th in the QS World University Rankings. Walking through its campus, we could feel the intellectual energy in the air. We even participated in fun and engaging activities, including playing the Number Battles card game designed by International FLS Corp.

Later that evening, we visited Singapore's famous Night Safari. The night was magical, especially when a majestic tiger locked eyes with us. This close encounter reminded me of the connection between humans and nature. To top it off, we enjoyed dinner while surrounded by wildlife—a truly extraordinary experience!

Day 3: Science Meets Culture in Singapore

Our day was packed with wonder and knowledge. We began by visiting the Science Museum, where we explored cutting-edge technology and innovation. Next, we dove deep into Singapore's history at the National Museum, gaining a new appreciation for the country's past and cultural diversity.

In the afternoon, we ventured to Haji Lane, a vibrant area brimming with colourful murals and unique shops. I tasted Indian tea for the first time, and its rich flavour left a lasting impression. That afternoon also pushed me beyond my comfort zone, as I mustered the courage to invite strangers of different ethnicities to take photos with us using my newly practised English skills. The sense of accomplishment from completing that challenge is something I’ll never forget.

Day 4: Nature’s Beauty at the Singapore Botanic Gardens

We spent the morning at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The serenity of the Orchid Garden, with its vibrant and rare flowers, left me in awe. It felt like we had stumbled into a secret garden, where the sounds of nature enveloped us in tranquillity. I was reminded that, like the orchids, we too are nurtured and cultivated, and I felt deeply grateful for this opportunity.

In the afternoon, we toured the Great Wall Group, a leading player in Singapore's food industry, where we learned about the intricate process of building a successful global brand. Chairman Guo kindly treated us to their famous durian, offering a delightful introduction to Singapore’s bold flavours.

Day 5: Sentosa & Marina Bay – Singapore’s Green Innovations

Our final day took us to the scenic beaches of Sentosa Island, where we soaked in the sun and sea breeze. We visited iconic spots like Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay’s Supertree Grove, marvelling at the forward-thinking urban planning and sustainable development of Singapore. Climbing to the top of the Supertree Grove and seeing the sprawling city beneath us was a moment of pure awe. It made me reflect on how life, like city planning, requires careful thought and perseverance to achieve long-term success.

Reflections and Awards

The six-day journey culminated in an awards ceremony where we celebrated our growth and achievements. Through various activities and teamwork, I gained invaluable lessons—not just about Singapore but about myself. Our nightly group discussions offered a platform to exchange ideas, and it was through these moments that I felt my confidence in both my language skills and my ability to adapt soar.

This study tour has left me with profound experiences and countless memories. My understanding of Singapore's culture deepened, and my English communication skills improved significantly. I now feel more prepared and eager to study and live in an international environment in the future.

I can’t wait to return to Singapore one day to continue exploring and learning in this incredible Lion City!

This journey was far more than just a trip—it was a chance to grow, explore, and dream bigger than ever before. Thank you to Guangdong Seiwajyuku and International FLS Corp for this unforgettable experience.
